I usually prefer sedans, but in this case, the hatchback just looks better.

Also, the equivalent to the GTA, the Renault 9 (sedan) and 11 (hatch) turbo are slightly more powerful at 10 5hp

I kinda do. My best friend had a regular Renault Alliance coupe as his first  car. Because he was the oldest of our group of friends, it was all of ours first vehicle that carried us freely away from parents.

Yep. Here they called it the Alliance. My best friend inherited a beige 2-door base model from his grandma when he got his license. We beat the hell out of that thing. It was a tough little bugger.

The Renault Alliance GTA is a car I’ve wanted for some time now. I only wish that it was mechanically closer to the 9 or 11 turbos that they got in europe. The Renault 11 turbo is one of my favorite hot hatches of all time. I’ve also fantasized about buying a beat Renault 5 GT turbo from Europe and transplanting the power and drivetrains into either an Alliance GTA (9) or an Encore (11).
